Overview of Student Visas for Australia
For people wishing to study in Australia there are 7 different Visa Subclasses they can choose from, depending upon the course and level of study they intend to undertake.
These visas allows students to undertake studies in non formal courses, English language courses, Primary and Secondary School (usually defined as the first 12 years of study), TAFE / Technical College and University.
The course and level of study the student intends to undertake will determine which visa Subclass they apply for and it is possible to combine different levels when applying for a visa. For example, if a student intends to undertake both a Diploma and a Bachelor Degree, they would apply for the visa which relates to the Bachelor Degree as this is their final level, or Principal Course, of study.
